Additional consideration
As an RO student your application will receive
additional consideration when you apply
to the University of Bristol, through UCAS.
This is dependent on you meeting all other
admissions criteria.
Alternative offers
For the majority of courses RO students
will receive a ‘guaranteed offer’. This means
RO students with predicted grades up to 2
A level grades lower than the standard course
requirements will be guaranteed an offer, as long
as they meet all other admissions criteria (see
the University of Bristol prospectus for further
details).
Any specific grade requirements for A level
subjects must be met (at the level required for
the ‘contextual offer’ as seen in the prospectus).
For language courses, at least a B grade at
A level is needed for the required languages
specified in the prospectus.
If you receive an offer from the University of
Bristol, you will receive a dual offer consisting of:
A standard offer for the course for which you
are applying. (This may be Bristol’s ‘contextual
offer’, which is usually one A level grade lower
than the standard offer, given to students
from ‘low performing’ schools/colleges –
see prospectus for further details).
AND
An RO offer of
— up to 2 A level grades lower than the
standard offer.
— up to 4 IB points below the standard
offer for those taking the International
Baccalaureate.
— if an RO offer for BTEC National Diploma
students is made, it will be for 1 grade
reduction in 1 area.
The RO offer will only be valid upon successful
completion of the RO Programme.
Although RO applicants for the Medicine (A100),
Dentistry (A206) and Veterinary Science (D100)
courses are eligible for additional consideration
and the 2 grade lower RO offer; they will
not be guaranteed an interview. All offers for
these courses will require an A grade in A level
Chemistry.
Course exemptions
Applicants for Veterinary Nursing and
Bioveterinary Science (DC37) are eligible for a
guaranteed offer, but there is no grade reduction.
