RO Parent Carer Leaflet - page 3

What does RO involve?
How does RO help students?
Successful completion of the Programme
will allow students to:
Receive additional consideration if
they apply through UCAS to any of
the RO Partner universities.
Receive an alternative offer through UCAS
from many of the Partner universities worth
up to two A level grades or equivalent.
Enhance their application to leading universities
in an increasingly competitive environment.
Develop skills to help them with
their current studies and prepare
them to do well at university.
Improve their knowledge, enabling them to
make informed decisions about their future.
Understand the benefits that studying at a
research intensive university can offer.
Gain an awareness of the career
options available to them in some of
the country’s top professions.
Feel more confident about applying
to and going to university.
To successfully complete the
Programme students must:
Attend a Local Launch event at the
university that recruited them (their host
university.)*
ementor who is a current student at one of
the RO universities.
Attend the National Student Conference to
be held at one of the RO universities.*
Pass the RO Academic Assignment, or
achieve a grade C or above in the
Extended Project Qualification (if this is
offered by their school/college).
Attend at least one additional RO event or
activity at an RO university that is not their
host university.*
*Transport costs may be reimbursed.
The information provided about
university has quelled all of my
existing fears and motivated me
to apply to research intensive
universities, which I had not
previously had any experience of.
